Management of Glaucoma in Patients with Keratoprosthesis
نویسنده
چکیده
Standard keratoplasty is known to fail in eyes with refractory corneal blindness such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome, chemical burns, ocular cicatrical pemphigoid and multiple failed grafts. Keratoprosthesis (K-Pro) have improved the visual potential of these eyes glaucoma, which is often pre-existent, is a common complication and can compromise the results. This article reviews the underlying causes, as well as the challenges and pitfalls in the diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma in patients with keratoprosthesis.

متن کاملGlaucoma and Corneal Transplant Procedures
Glaucoma after corneal transplantation is a leading cause of ocular morbidity after penetrating keratoplasty. The incidence reported is highly variable and a number of etiologic factors have been identified. A number of treatment options are available; surgical intervention for IOP control is associated with a high incidence of graft failure. IOP elevation is less frequently seen following deep...
متن کاملKeratoprosthesis in congenital hereditary endothelial dystrophy after multiple failed grafts.
Congenital hereditary endothelial dystrophy (CHED) has historically been managed with penetrating keratoplasty (PK), with moderate success, and, more recently, with Descemet's stripping endothelial keratoplasty (DSEK). The possibility of repeated graft failures with CHED, however, makes alternative surgical procedures desirable. To our knowledge, this is the first reported use of a keratoprosth...
